Minister of Health and Medical Services Honourable Culwick Togamana in his address today has made clarification on what it means for the Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS), National Health Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) including our National Referral Hospital (NRH) to be ‘On full Activation Mode’.
According to the Health Minister, the frontline agencies mentioned are in full activation mode since the detection of the country’s first positive COVID-19 case on the morning of Saturday 3rd of October.
“This full activation mode means that all health teams from clinical, public health surveillance, triage and isolation, ambulance, risk communication and so forth are all on standby and on heightened alert to respond to any further reports of COVID-19 related signs and symptoms from within the quarantine station in which the Philippines students are currently being quarantined or the community from any possible spread,” Hon. Togamana said.
He gave assurance that all frontline workers engaged in COVID-19 operations including support staff are very experience and have the knowledge and skills.
”All frontline workers engaged in COVID-19 operations including support staff have all had training since the beginning of this year on infection, prevention and control measures and effective use of personal protective equipment.
“The knowledge and skills gained over the months have been put into practice in the management of all arrivals abroad including the Philippine flight,” the Health Minister said.
Meanwhile, according to Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare, the cabinet has met and directed the Oversight Committee to implement all measures to ensure the COVID-19 infection does not go beyond the quarantine stations and isolation facilities.
He said Cabinet also note that there will be no general lock downs until further notice.
