THE Economic Stimulus Package (ESP) Sub-Committee has assured the public and interested applicants who have applied for funding considerations that the funds granted will be monitored and the recipients will be held accountable for the use of the funds.

According to Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare, the National Government has received a good number of submissions from interested applicants for funding consideration and has begun the process of implementing these Economic Stimulus packages.

Prime Minister Sogavare assures Honiara based applicants, that all data have been compiled, for the screening committee to process the applications accordingly.

Sogavare further assures Exporters of Copra and Cocoa that the finalization of cash or fund injection is expected to be completed last week so that they can start buying from our local producers.

He reassured that all applications will be going through a rigorous and transparent screening process.

Meanwhile, the deadline to apply for the Economic Stimulus Package (ESP) should have been on the 26th of June 2020 but according to Chief of Staff at the Prime Minister’s Office, Robson Djokovic, currently, the stimulus committee is still conducting awareness throughout provinces so likely the dateline would be extended.

“Some of the provinces have already completed in terms of awareness whilst others, the Community Development Officers (CDOs) and members of the provincial government officials are yet to work with the stimulus committee in terms of the stimulus package awareness,” he said.

More information about the deadline to apply for the Economic Stimulus Package (ESP), will be updated later on as the ESP Sub-Committee will decide on whether to extend the deadline for submission.
