Police Warns Public of Bomb Blasting in Alligator Creek Area

THE Royal Solomon Islands Police Force Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team will conduct a live demolition of bombs (bomb blasting) at Hells Point, Alligator Creek in Central Guadalcanal on Thursday 12 April 2018.

Officer In-Charge (OIC) of RSIPF EOD Team Inspector Clifford Tunuki says, “Hells Point Demolition Range will be active from these times 8: Am to 4: Pm on Thursday 12 April 2018.”

He adds: “Fishermen, Farmers, Hunters and the general public of Henderson, Alligator Creek and Tenaru School areas are kindly warned to keep out from Hells Point area while the operation is in progress.”

“This is a normal EOD task aimed to reduce the amount of Unexploded Ordnance and Abandoned Ordnances (UXOs/AXO) stored at the Hells Points site to a minimum level,” says OIC Tunuki.

He says, “Air traffic Control Tower at Honiara International Airport will coordinate the firing of each serial. No serial is to be fired without specific air clearance and permission from Honiara Air Traffic Control Tower.”

Inspector Tunuki adds; “An EOD Operator/ Technician from the RSIPF EOD Unit will be posted at the control Tower during this operation to advice of the actual times of demolition and completion time,” adds Inspector Tunuki.
