MALAITA Youth Office will implement the Malaita Province Youth Kava Brand Module Training which has been confirmed to be Commence this month June 2020.
This was confirmed by Malaita provincial Youth desk coordinator, Frank Samosari who endorsed that Malaita Youth Office will implement the Kava Brand Module Training in Ward 4 and Ward 7 this month.
According to the province’s Youth Office, the Major Project that will cover all the 27 wards in Malaita Province, except for the wards in Langalanga Lagoon, Lau Lagoon, and Malaita Outer Islands (MOI).
Chairman of the Malaita Youth Caucus, Philip Subu in confirming the project implementation to Sunday Isles, stated that the Kava Module Training aimed to create employment for youths through Kava Farming.
“Benefits- Youths are engaged in Kava Farming and get monetary benefits from Kava sales. $250 per Kg.
“The Vision – build Malaita Youths to become Self- Reliant and align with the Restorative Economy Vision of the Malaita Provincial Government.
“Mission -Train youths to understand Kava farming methods- train youths to be self-reliant, Cultivate youths to fit Physically, Mentally, and Spiritually,” Mr. Subu Explained.
He further stated that the project is just a continuation of the project implementation and Youths in Dala and those in the eastern regions of Malaita province have already been part of the project.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAL) last week in its quest to get baseline information for its Kava – “Iumi Millionaire Programme,” has issued a notice to Kava Farmers throughout the Country in preparation for the roll-out of the Kava program.
The Agriculture Ministry required existing Kava farmers to provide essential information with regards to their existing Kava Farms to the Ministry’s Kava project coordinator.
“MAL officers in the provinces will be verifying this data on the ground as soon as we get this information at hand,” the Agriculture Ministry stated.
