Investigation Over Fielders Factory Death Continues

POLICE investigations are still ongoing over the fatal incident at the Fielders factory, which resulted in a death of a male person.

According to Police Acting Commissioner Juanita Matanga, the decease was an employee at the factory when the fatal incident happened.

“No arrests have been made as investigations are still ongoing at this stage to establish the cause of his death,” she told media.

She said police would like to thank the relatives of the decease for allowing police to do its work and to ensure that the issue is handled according to the law.

“I would like to thank the victim’s family for allowing the police to carry out its investigations without any hindrance,” she said.

She also appealed to those with credible information about the incident to come forward and also to maintain the level of understanding, as investigations will prevail afterwards.

The alleged fatal incident occurred in last month, January at the fielder factory site, which is located opposite, the Water Front nightclub in east of Honiara. Initial reports stated the victim in his 40s from North Malaita was busy inside the mixer doing routine cleaning up when someone suddenly switched on the machine, crushing the man, killing the deceased on the spot.
