Health Ministry to Brief Media on Measles

Concern is growing about the spread of measles in the Solomon Islands.


WITH concern growing about the spread of measles in the Solomon Islands, the Ministry of Health and Medical Services are inviting the local media in the launching of a media campaign to tackle the problem and provide information to the public.

The media are expected to attend the public health briefing on Friday 13 December (tomorrow) from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Regional Eye Centre Conference Room, National Referral Hospital Compound.

Led by Dr. Divinal Ogaoga, a panel of experts from the Ministry of Health and World Health Organization will update the local media on the current measles situation in the Pacific and also on what was being done to prepare for the threat of measles in the country.

Deputy Director of the National Health Promotion Department, Peter Kafa said the news plays a key role in informing the community about public health issues. The Ministry wishes to work with the media organization to ensure the community receives accurate, timely, understandable information.
