POLICE Commissioner Matthew Varley says the Janus task-force are still active and will work very hard this year 2018.
Mr Varley made the statement when responding to media queries regarding the credibility of Janus task-force during the police commissioner’s weekly media conference last week.
He said there are no fresh updates but the public will soon expect to see a number of investigations revealed this year as we are working on a number of cases in our files.
“Currently, we are working on a number of cases in our files and so far, couple of these cases have been forwarded before the court for trials, therefore our officers are now working to ensure there is a balance between the trials and investigations of the existing cases,” he said.
Mr Varley said it is a complex job, however significant matters are expected to be resolved in the coming weeks and months.
“We are not shunning away from it. I will give briefs on them regularly and certainly, I do understand the expectation of the community have on these cases.
“But we have to follow the procedures and rules of acquiring the evidences based on the advice of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). So the message is – ‘Janus is still active’ and will work extra hard this Year,” the Police Chief said.
