THE government has sets up a task force to assess its foreign policies amidst the ongoing matters surrounding Taiwan and China.
Prime Minister Hon. Manasseh Sogavare in a recent media conference held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet said that his government has conducted analysis on the Taiwan-China Matter.
“The Government is aware of the many concerns our people have shared in relation to the Government’s Foreign Policy, specifically on the China and Taiwan question.”
“I wish to inform that the Democratic Coalition Government for Advancement (DCGA) is setting up a bipartisan Task Force comprising both Government and opposition members and supported by a competent secretariat, to provide an in-depth foreign policy review, analysis, strategy and approach with recommendations for the Government to consider enhancing its diplomatic engagements and leverage available opportunities,” he said.
The Prime Minister further reiterated that the Government is conducting a comprehensive analysis on the Taiwan-China matter.
“We believe that whatever decision we will make will be a sovereign decision by the Government of Solomon Islands based on its people’s interest and that of national peace, economic progress and prosperity,” he stated.
The DCGA is committed to the delivery of ongoing and prospective policy priorities in the interests of peace, national stability, and economic advancement.
