NATIONAL Referral Hospital, Emergency Department are privileged to receive an Electrocardiogram machine donated by Tongs Corporation Limited.

In a hosted dinner and handing over ceremony held at the Paradise Restaurant, Pacific Casino Hotel, the General Manager of Tongs Corporation, Joe Sika said being a patient or a staff is not always easy.

“I noticed this as a patient in 2017 where an Electrocardiogram (ECG) machine was shared amongst wards,” he said.

The National Referral Hospital is often faced with many challenges. Shortage of essential lifesaving medical equipment is not new to all the NRH clinical departments, including the Emergency Department.

Dr. John Hue sincerely thanked Mr. Joe Sika for his desire to support the Emergency Department with the very important medical equipment.

“On behalf of the Senior Staff from the Emergency Department, I would like to express that it is moments like this that give them support, inspiration and encouragement to continue.”

He stressed the importance of the machine, which measures the electrical activity of the heart.

“The new machine will assist the doctors in rapidly diagnosed people presenting with acute chest pains whether it’s cardiac related or not. This is what we call heart attacks.

“Non Communicable Disease related cardiac diseases is the leading cause of deaths in our country. Emergency Department is where they present to with most of the cases and so it’s a donation in good cause,” Dr John added.
