THE Country’s third (3rd) COVID-19 positive case comes as no surprise because there has been mingling and congregating between the students at the quarantine facility.
This was according to Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare when addressing the nation today to announce the country’s third (3rd) COVID-19 Positive case.
The patient is a student who came on the repatriation flight from the Philippines last month.
Prime Minister Sogavare when announcing the latest COVID-19 case said the patient was diagnosed during a 3rd routine testing under the country’s testing protocols required for all returning nationals.
“The student has been transferred to National Referral Hospital (NRH) Isolation unit for further observation and management and contact tracing has been commenced to establish the possible source of infection,” Sogavare said.
The Prime Minister said like the first 2 cases the 3rd COVID-19 Positive patient does not show any signs of illness.
“We are relieved of recording only 1 additional COVID-19 Positive case because there could be more.
“There has been mingling and congregating between the students at the quarantine facility.
“We give thanks to the heavenly father that he is still looking after our nation and our students,” he said.
Prime Minister Sogavare further revealed that results of the upcoming 4th round of testing under the country’s testing protocol which take place between Sunday 18th and Tuesday 20th October– will give a better indication of status and the likely projection of the covid19 infection in the country.
Earlier on, in a media conference on Wednesday, the Secretary to Prime Minister and the also a member of the Government COVID-19 oversight committee, Dr. Jimmy Rodgers said the students who are in quarantine are breaching the rules and it is are a grim outlook for the country.
Sunday Isles understand that Dr. Rodgers and Prime Minister’s statements come after a recent assessment was carried out at the Cheng’s quarantine station after the second COVID-19 case was detected.
